29 October 2008 | StickyPoint Back Issues

Recently the number of requests we receive for back issues of StickyPoint has grown, which we think is awesome. We are nearing the 2 year anniversary since the first issue hit the shelves, so it is reassuring to know that there are new readers of the magazine who have an interest to see its history.

We don’t sell back issues of the magazine through our website, but a few of our retailers do stock back issues; such as Off Ya Tree. However, if you are not close to an Off Ya Tree store, their online store also offers all the back issues. Bongs N Things also have the first 3 issues of StickyPoint in their online store, with Issue 2 and 3 on sale for $7.46AUD.

In terms of getting copies of the current issue, your best bet is to check our store locator. Please be aware though, the store locator list may contain retailers who have not advised us that they no longer stock the magazine.

In some circumstances you may find that a retailer chooses to not display the magazine due to high numbers of theft (we have heard of this from a few places), or that they feel it is not appropriate for display on the shelf. We have also been told that some retailers also sell out quickly. In any case, unfortunately we cannot control the actions of the retailers. Our advice is to ask the retailer, hopefully it is being held behind the counter or they can order more in.

A Bud Shots update, some up close and personal macro shots of some dried buds. Lots of lovely crystals, glimmering in the light. All of the new images can be seen from the thumbnails below, and also appear in the Bud Shots Gallery.

Dr. John Jiggens has been apart of StickyPoint since the very beginning, and is the only writer to have featured in every issue thus far. For those of you who don’t know who he is, he’s been a journalist and book author for many years. His writings centre around Australian Drug & Popular Culture.

Recently Dr. Jiggens launched a small website to provide more information about himself and his writing. His website contains details on each of his books, as well as all the articles he has written for StickyPoint (in full transcript) and some of his academic papers.

Check out his website for more info.

Issue 5 should be hitting the shelves in the coming days, so keep an eye out. From a distance the cover appears as a regular budshot, but as you get closer, you’ll see that it is in fact a photo mosaic of smaller bud shots and other weed pics.

From time to time we get emails from people asking where they can buy the magazine. Our website has a store locator, listing retailers who can stock our magazine. If you find a store on the list that doesn’t stock the magazine, ask them if they can order it in. We have heard that some newsagents don’t feel comfortable having our magazine on the shelves, or believe that people aren’t interested in “that sort of thing”.

In conjunction with the release of Issue 5, we have a couple of SoloPipes up for grabs!* For those of you who prefer to indulge in your smoke through a pipe, you will find this little device not only cool, but effective and efficient. No more 2-hand effort required…

Winners will be drawn on September 30th.

*Entry open to Australian residents only. 1 Entry per person

THIS COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED, WINNERS HAVE BEEN DRAWN.

The thing I love most about the internet is the opportunities it provides people to distribute new media that would otherwise have been too cost ineffective to release by traditional standards.

CHTV (CollegeHumor TV - Original Videos) is a channel of original TV-quality various funny videos. One show in particular that caught our attention here was their weed styled parody of the NBC show “The Office“, titled “High Time Editorial Office“. However, instead of setting the show inside a paper company, the characters are all employees of the American publication High Times.

Although the episodes are a little short (approximately 4 and a half minutes), there is still plenty of time to drop about 200 weed puns and jokes, some of which are actually quite funny.

Anyhow, take a look for yourself - ”High Time Editorial Office

Bud Shot Gallery

Hi there,

This is the new StickyPoint Magazine Blog, launching in conjunction with some minor updates and tweaks to the already existing StickyPoint Magazine website. We wanted to create a new platform to keep in touch with our readers on a regular basis; along the way delivering sweet sweet Bud Shots, news from around the office, things we come across on the net, competitions and topic discussion.

On the right sidebar you’ll find links to the new Bud Shot gallery, wallpapers & readers pics. We welcome anyone out there who wants to post their weed related pic in our readers pics gallery to send them in, shoot it through in an email to pics@blog.stickypointmagazine.com.

News from around the office is that Issue 05 should be hitting shelves in the next week or two. Yes, it is a little later than we were a) anticipating, b) hoping for and c) wanted. Such is life in the world of publishing, but I assure you we still aim to provide the best we can. Some time ago, when our first issue was still just a small sapling, people said that we wouldn’t get a fifth issue out there… I guarantee you it is just around the corner.

Speaking of Issue 5, it is JAM PACKED with Bud Shots. We had been hearing from a few sources that our readers wanted to see more Bud Shots, so we paid attention to the requests. There is a sweet variety of outdoors and indoors and some buds plucked just after harvest.

In the not-too-distant future we will be running a small competition through this blog, with a SoloPipe up for grabs. More details to come soon.
